I would recommend LSUA Dual Enrollment to any high school student that's looking to start their career early. It's a tremendous opportunity and it's something to take advantage of while you have that opportunity. As a dual enrollment student, we never felt kind of separate than the college kids we always felt included, and even with the events, any activities that were on campus, we always felt welcomed and it was very enjoyable to be a part of. Upon my high school graduation, I completed a total of 44 college credit hours here at LSUA.
I had a really unique experience here at LSUA. I started doing enrollment as- in my second semester of my sophomore year, so I really was able to get a head start with my associates degree. One of the main benefits that I personally experienced from the dual enrollment program was actually that as a pre-med student, I initially always thought that my major would be biology. But you know, after taking college level biology and its labs, along with college level chemistry, and its labs all the way up till organic chemistry, I really realized that I preferred chemistry and that really helped me in that when I was applying to colleges, I was able to directly apply as a chemistry major instead of during my undergraduate career having to switch that. And so I was really just to be able to redirect myself and focus on what I realized that I really enjoyed. I really felt like I walked out of it not just with a higher academic knowledge but also being comfortable with things on the college campus. Like navigating a big college campus, advising, scheduling, all of those different aspects talking to your professors or going to their office hours that you really can't learn in high school. The high school college transition is a really different transition. So this early but controlled exposure to dual enrollment college courses was a really great transition. I really credit LSUA's dual enrollment with getting me to where I am and I really feel confident going into whatever's next.
